If the O's make it to the ALCS or World Series, I could really see Bautista being available. Higher reward to offset the risk at that point. He's going to have to look amazing in the bullpen, thats all I have to say. I'd hate to see him do more structural damage to his elbow mid-game. Not as dominant as he was at 101, but come on.. . that's not what separates him from Baker. Of course, I'm still very skeptical that anything fruitful will come out of this. I'm not getting my hopes up. It is encouraging to see. I wouldn't bank on him for the postseason but I think it'd be a nice shot in the arm for this team. The only risk would be effectiveness and how many IP he can pitch (as well as delaying the Tommy John, but that's already happened). The risk isn't worth the reward in the Divisional Series. But may be in the ALCS or the World Series. Edited September 26, 2023 by dzorange

Looks like they could be gearing him up to pitch sooner rather than later.

Can't make the assumption the Orioles are going to make the ALCS especially when there's a good chance they face the Rays in the ALDS. Hallas
Assuming the O's aren't pitching him back-to-back, he's available for 3 out of 5 games in the ALDS, and 4 out of 7 games in the ALCS and WS. His (likely) limited availability does throw a wrench in any plans involving putting him on the postseason roster.
tntoriole
This is not just “oh go out and throw some and see how it feels” He is being carefully monitored evaluated by the Oriole orthopedic and rehab medicine staff and specialists , likely including repeat MRIs, and clinical reexamination after every session. They will decide what is possible/best for Felix health
Bahama O's Fan
I would think they want to give him some game action that isn't that important before throwing him into a high pressure situation in the playoffs. Maybe the last series against Boston, especially if the AL East is wrapped up and we have a bye.
