Can still remember where I was.   The TV lounge of Femoyer Hall, a dorm where a friend of mine lived.   After the victory we didn't have champagne so we spreayed ourselves with beer in celebration.

Just checked a campus map, Femoyer Hall doesn't exist anymore.

40 years later and there are images from that day I'll never forget.   Obviously the soft liner to Cal to end it.   Eddie hitting his name on the scoreboard with his monster home run.   My favorite player, Rick Dempsey, going into 2nd base after a run scoring double and pumping his fists in the air.   Dempsey on the phone to President Reagan after tthe game, "You tell those Russians we're having a pretty good time over here playing baseball".

The extremely painful endings to 1979, 1980, and 1982 all being wiped away as the best team in baseball from 1977 to 1983 finally was able to claim the title they deserved, just in time for againg vets like Singy, Dempsey, Bumbry, Lowenstein, Dauer, Palmer, and Tippy.

Sitting in a bar called "My Office" in Rochester NY with my best friend eating chicken wings (10 cents/each) and drinking pitchers of beer.  The name was not lost in the "Hey, let's go to My Office for happy hour" crowd.  Even better, I spent one New Years Eve in a bar not so far away called "My Apartment".  I guess it provided a plan B if you asked a young lady to "My Apartment" for a drink.  The non-verbal communication would let you know whether to run with it or "I meant the bar" and appear innocent like, pfft what can of person do you think I am....

I’m not sure if I saw any two games of that Series in the same place.  Went to game 1, then went on a road trip to New England with a buddy of mine who was also a big O’s fan.  Saw game two at some crappy hotel along the way, games 3-5 at various inns in New Hampshire and maybe Vermont in between hiking excursions.   Then on the way back, basking in the glow of victory, we spent the better part of a day in Cooperstown at the Hall of Fame.   What an awesome week that was.   It was almost exactly a year since I’d started working as a lawyer and I needed that vacation badly.

My apartment is still around haha. I was born in 88 so I have yet to witness some WS action, but I will be there when it does happen!

Fort Knox, KY in '83, Armor Officer Basic.  I really don't remember much about '83 since I didn't have much of a chance to watch too much of it.  Remember '79 better, unfortunately.

Note:  Did I really use the word "much" three times in the same sentence?

I was at the Vet for the fifth and final game of the '83 series. Kind of a dull game, really, with a total of just 10 hits. The Orioles' five hits included two HRs by Eddie, both no-doubters as soon as the ball left the bat, and one by Dempsey. I think that was my last visit to the Vet, a really terrible multipurpose stadium where I'd been many times. The Phillies fans were quite civil to me, as I recall. It was like they knew they weren't going to score much against McGregor that day.
