Cease vs everyone else

@Sports Guy a 4 teamer that nets Cease for Westburg & Basallo

Yep, in this four-team deal, Bregman is the centerpiece. The Astros would move him and outfielder Jake Meyers to the Yankees, and the White Sox would move pitcher Jared Shuster to the Yankees so that the Astros could acquire … Baltimore infielder Jordan Westburg.

In this deal, the Orioles get Cease and trade Westburg to the Astros, who theoretically becomes Bregman’s replacement at third base.

So what do the White Sox get out of all of this? A Top 10 prospect from each of the other three teams — outfielder Jasson Domínguez (Yankees’ No. 2 prospect), catcher/first baseman Samuel Basallo (Orioles’ No. 5 prospect) and pitcher Spencer Arrighetti (Astros’ No. 3 prospect).

That has to be a Bowden trade.  Is Sports Guy really Bowden undercover.  The O's basically trading Westburg & Basallo for Cease isn't the most ridiculous part.  The Astros trade Bregman for Westburg.  Why would they do that?

Yes the Orioles are linked to a pitcher, in this fanciful four team trade.

I miss the old days when "journalists" only used words like linked when there was actually some sort of source to at least confirm a conversation took place.

The original MLB.com article is a joke.  They even say "So let’s fake a deal! "

I know ….. it’s a 4 teamer.it will never happen. But, SG fantasizes over the multi team trades. It was never meant to be taken seriously

Cardinals beat them for Sonny Gray.      I suppose Elias was going to have to outbid at least two of the three of ATL-LAD-STL at least wherever Gray ended up.

Seems like Cardinals-Cubs amped up about the Brewers perhaps looking at a retool....its Willy Adames' walk year as well as Corbin Burnes'.

Certainly don't see us getting into a bidding war with Atlanta and LA, especially when the prospects Chicago is asking for likely won't be on par with the ones they are asking of the other teams. They'll try to squeeze us for our top guys, but they'll end up settling for lesser guys from someone else. They won't accept equal-level prospects from us because our farm is too good. This is my weird theory and I'm sticking to it.

But, if the O's prospects are better, why would Chicago not want them, even if they are in the O's 5-10 range?    Not sure how Atlanta's and LA's systems stack up to the O's right now.

Because Chicago is a dumb organization, and they'd rather take another team's #5 and #6 prospects than our #11 and #12. Because it looks better in the press when people write that. And also, I just don't think the Orioles are going to allow themselves to get bid up like that. They're going to offer what they think is fair value and walk away.

It's admittedly a silly theory lol, but it's just a gut thing I'm going with.
