The Kyle Stowers/Connor Norby Appreciation Thread

Normally, I wouldn’t start an appreciation thread for two guys who don’t have a full year of major league service between them.   But man, these two guys have paid their dues.

Stowers in AAA: 243 games, 1047 PA, .253/.351/.519, 147 runs, 57 HR, 193 RBI.

Norby in AAA: 227 games, 1050 PA, .296/.371/.505, 182 runs, 41 HR, 156 RBI.

I hope they both get plenty of run in Miami and show that their minor league success can carry over to the majors.  Best of luck to both of them.

I loved reading the minor league summaries when Stowers would go on a tear.  Same with Norby.

I will be following their careers and hope they have a lot of success.  They should be able to start immediately.

As fans, we often look at these players as robots and don't take into account the human side of things.  I'm sure it was extremely frustrating to put up good numbers for a long time in AAA and to never get a legit shot at ML playing time.  I'm sure they're both happy for a fresh start and chance for playing time.  I'm happy for them and wish them success.

I'm a big Stowers fan and felt like we never gave him a chance. Good bat, much better fielder than Kjerstad. Best of luck to both guys.

We never even gave Stowers a chance to hit. He still batted .306 this year.

I can see him hitting 35 HR if he becomes an every day player for the Marlins next year.

Just heard Brittany Ghiroli on the Rates & Barrels podcast report Orioles told Stowers a couple weeks ago they would try to trade him knowing he was blocked and deserves to be a major leaguer.

For few MLB plate appearances, Stowers had a hand in a couple big rallies at OPACY, against Liam Hendriks and against the Yankees.

I feel like the Rogers trade was sort of an over pay, but don't mind it too much, because now Norby and Stowers finally have their time to shine.  I was particularly impressed with Norby's defense this call up.  I don't think he'll ever be a gold glover or even above average but he looks like he can hold his own at 2B and I would think RF.  I have to admit I haven't seen much of him in the OF, but he's more athletic than I would think and should do an adequate job there.  I'm especially happy that Stowers will finally get an extended look in Miami that he never got in Baltimore.  I believe he's now played parts of 4 seasons in Norfolk and must be sick of it as Norby must be too.  Wishing Norby and Stowers luck and may they see their name in the Miami lineup the rest of the year.

The play Just Regular mentioned above. I still remember how pumped I was after he hit that HR and also seeing his reaction as he rounded the bases. Made me remember why I love this game so much.

I want to wish Kyle Stowers and Connor Norby success in Marlins team . You two been paying your dues for awhile at Norfolk, here’s hoping you both get opportunities there . 
 

Question . Why did Marlins sent Norby down to their AAA team ?   I don’t understand that move .
