He didn’t start as well, but there is basically no on out there that wouldn’t take Merrill over him. Hopefully he will work hard in the offseason and be better next year.

He burned through his RHed relievers faster than he needed to, put himself in a position where a LHer had to pitch to O'Neill, then decided not to walk O'Neill (slugging .733 vs. LHers).

As I have said for awhile with all the injuries we have very little wiggle room to win games.  An error here bad baserunning not getting runners in with less then two outs all are magnified because of it.

The problem is they do that way too often.

Before tonight, Akin had an 834 OPS against with RISP and an 810 OPS against in high leverage situations.

Didn't really try very hard to develop elite pitching. At least as I understood it, pitching depth was supposed to come from free agent signings and trades, some of whom would come cheap and be transformed by the Orioles' superior pitcher development tools.

Hyde is not a good manager when it comes to the stats.  This team needs a shrink.  It also needs one guy the equivalent of a Devers or similar that the team can look to as a rock in the lineup.

The RS's good plays on some hard-hit balls had a magnified effect because there were so few hard-hit balls.

I think that is supposed to be Rutschman, Henderson and Holliday. Not working out too well right now.

With an off day tomorrow nonetheless you can't let Cano go only one batter with a thin bullpen. Webb is close to coming back, but Hyde doesn't have the luxury right now of using his best reliever like he was a LOOGY coming in to face only one hitter.

This team is trash and will be out the 1st playoffs series. Hell I bet we lose 5/6 against the Tigers and have to fight for a playoff spot down to the last day.
