Rutschman 2nd half OPS .585 - McCann’s 2nd half OPS .785

Everything just seems off the last few months.  Lack of pop in the bat and struggles defensively would make sense if he was injured, but a drastic drop in swing decisions doesn't make sense.

Has to be his girlfriend.

He's obviously a better hitter than that, I suspect something is bothering him and we'll find out after the season. Lobbing the SB on Rutschman is a bit disingenuous, our pitchers are basically letting the runner get halfway to 2B before they even start the windup.

I'll be happy when the ABS system goes in, because an umpire who is supposed to be watching the ball and not the catcher's glove, framing shouldn't even be a thing.

Yep. Nothing annoys me more than watching a pitch go over the plate but called a ball because it missed the target.

Don't underrate/undercut a player by a poor 2nd half, and don't overrate a player because of a great year.

Adley had an 800+ OPS in 2022, 2023, and all the way up until July 10th. Yeah, since then he's been terrible. But I wouldn't be shocked one bit if after the season it comes out that he was dealing with lingering back injuries.

But he's still only 26. He's a hard worker. Don't doubt one bit he comes back stronger next season.

    • I would guess that Dean will follow Hank Greenberg’s precedent of playing on Rosh Hashanah.
    • The Royals are also a weaker draw than the Tigers. Whenever tbe Tigers are in town, I am always impressed with the number of their fans present, not so for the Royals.
    • Suarez was third I believe. Unless his innings yesterday pushed him to 2nd.

Looking back at all of 2024, the team was 2nd in the AL in runs per game and tops in OPS+.   The offense was inconsistent at times, and not very good with RISP or at situational hitting, but bottom line is they scored more runs than every AL team but the Yankees.   The pitching overall was middle of the pack, but marked by a very good performance by the starting pitchers (3.77 ERA was 4th in the AL) and a very poor one by the bullpen (4.22 ERA was 11th).   They did not blow many saves (69% save rate was 3rd best in the AL), but let a lot of narrow deficits get out of hand.   The defense went downhill as the year went along, particularly in the infield, which was +2 OAA at the end of June but ended up -20 for the year.  As the O's head for the playoffs, I'm hoping to see the bats remain hot, but with better situational hitting, and I'll be crossing my fingers that the bullpen and defense do better in the postseason than they did the second half of 2024.
    • I'm guessing it's no problem and Dean will pitch. As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, it'd be malpractice for the O's to throw Suarez 6 IP yesterday if Kremer was unavailable for this series.
    • Hi Malike! I'm glad to see on in the message board again! I've missed your presence in the game threads.
