He was most likely out of gas by the end of the year.  He had over 200 innings in a 10 month span between Winter ball, spring training, minors and majors.  The question will be cost.  He doesn't have

One vague quote from Hyde (that doesn’t actually say Al will be an FA) reported by Roch and suddenly everyone thinks a player on our major league reserve list with two years of service time will magically become a free agent?  

Can anyone cite an actual rule or CBA provision that would support this?

There is a uniform players contract with limits to special terms. There is a reserve clause in that contract that gives clubs the ability to renew contracts each year unless the player has been taken off the 40-man or accrued six years of service time.

Maybe because he was a foreign professional, which sometimes have clauses allowing early free agency?  I think Fuji couldn’t be renewed last year?  However, that still seems odd for Suarez since he signed a minor league contract.

Minor League contract, to keep him off the 40. One year contact to give the team only one year of control.

This guy was signed in August, pitched a few MLB innings, also "not updated" on Bbref.

According to this he is now a free agent and his MLB page says he has elected free agency.

Very Complicated CBA, Albert was left off the WC roster, Now activated, I think because FA does not start until after the season ( Post season ) ends.

Well, it has been pointed out that the quote referred to in the thread title is not exactly conclusive. It's theoretically possible that Hyde has no idea whether Elias intends to tender a contract, although that seems unlikely.

      As of today, we have 3 lefties in the OF. He will have plenty of at bats here.  I wouldn't start him everyday persay but 350-450 at bats will be fine.

      For me, he’d be the 4th outfielder so he’d likely have to do both. He could spell all three of Mullins/Cowser/Kjerstad at any given time. I would argue positionally a RH OF might be out biggest need in fact, so if not O’Neil, someone else of that ilk.

      I would consider adding Tommy Pham in our McKenna/Slater role......he's a better bat and it pretty much guarantees that we'll be in the playoffs again.  He always gets there. Yes, I'm serious.

      Alonso would be the worst possible signing for us. All he does is hit for power, and even that might be waning, even before you stick him in Oriole Park with that LF wall. That is the hardest of passes.    Martinez is very meh. That dude is going to fall off a cliff at some point soon, I’d rather it not be while the Os are paying him.    Could get on board with O’Neill for sure, if the price is reasonable. Major upgrade over the Slater/Hays combo from 2024, if he could stay healthy.

      Lot of great crowds at these games so far in fact (throwing stuff onto the field notwithstanding). Yankees crowd I must begrudgingly admit was pretty raucous you could hear drum beats, maybe the occasional horn, in addition to their usual annoying chanting and sound effects. Phillies always have great crowds. SD and LA turning it up a notch. Detroit and Mets and KC will almost certainly add to that list shortly. Makes it that much more fun to watch.
