Markakis hit his 30th double of the season tonight in the Braves' 5-3 win over the Rockies.

Overall, he was 3-for-5 with an RBI for the game.

Along with his 30 doubles, Nick is batting .299 with a .367 OBP for the season.

Nick is on a nice little tear the last 7 games, hitting .433/.485/.567 without a single strikeout in 33 PA. It's actually the second time this month he's gone 7 games without a strikeout, and he had an 8 game streak without a strikeout in April. BA is back up to .302 and OPS to .751.

Former Oriole Randy Wolf pitched 7 innings of 1-run ball today against the Angels.

Unfortunately for Wolf, he got an L because his team was shutout on offense.

Strangely enough, the Mariners have had 2 very similar experiences in fate in the last decade that involve acquiring former Orioles in order to get themselves to the next step after having solid seasons the previous year.

In 2007, the Mariners went 87-75. They acquired ace starting pitcher Erik Bedard in the ensuing off-season. Bedard only pitched part of the season due to injuries, and the Mariners wound up going 61-101 in 2008. GM Bill Bavasi was fired during the season.

In 2014, the Mariners went 87-75. They acquired superstar DH Nelson Cruz in the ensuing off-season. In spite of Cruz having a monster year offensively, the Mariners are sitting at 59-69 after 128 games. GM Jack Zduriencik was subsequently fired.

The 33-year-old McLouth is not expected to return this year, which is not terribly surprising at this point given his lack of recently-reported baseball activity and prior indications of setbacks. He did attempt to return to action this spring, but only made it through two games before shutting things down.

On the bright side, the veteran left-handed hitter is expected to be ready to go for 2016, Ladson adds. That won’t necessarily mean much for the Nationals, however, who signed McLouth to a two-year, $10.75MM free agent contract prior to 2014. That deal includes a $6.5MM club option for next season, but Washington seems all but certain to buy out the option for $750K.

McLouth inked with the Nats after a solid run with the Orioles over 2012-13 over which he put up 829 plate appearances of .261/.333/.409 hitting with 42 steals and 19 home runs. He looked like a nice finishing piece to his new club’s roster, but scuffled to a .173/.280/.237 batting line over 162 trips to the plate before suffering the injury.
