I remember many posts last season, or early this offseason, saying that we should jettison Matusz because he'd cost $5 mm this year. I said then that it was very unlikely Matusz would get that much. I think $3.9 mm is a fair deal for both sides -- see my thread that lists what relievers are getting paid this offseason.

MLBTraderumors had him for 3.4 and relievers are way up this year. Scott Proefrock talked about Tony Sipp and Bastardo and how Matusz fit right with them a few weeks back.
