Agreed. Plus if you publish that tasing may occur in such situations on signs, tickets, etc. then that removes liability from the Orioles or MLB and places it on fan that takes that risk. Furthermore, those that die from tasing are typically in poor shape or have a heart issue which isn't the typical types of people we see on the field.

No it doesn't.

What would be your justification for using that level of force against a drunken idiot?

I was at the game last night. I'm not sure why they are calling this goober a streaker, he took his shirt off after running in the field but he still had pants in, that's not streaking. The umpire payed this bozo out with a great tackle MLB should be giving him a bonus. Police need to start tazing these clowns because this crap is getting old.

Just imagine the amount of "occupyers" that would invade the first stadium that used a level of force that gave the appearance of not treating everyone with complete dignity and like the individual was on a pedastal because they committed a crime.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but this is the exact reason this nation finds itself in the state it's currently in. I am in no way in favor of using excessive force, but if you only make decisions based on what a bunch of whiney college kids will do in response, you'll never get anything done. If these idiots are creating a serious nuisance, inciting similar behavior, and refusing to follow the commands of the police, I see the deployment of a Taser as a justified response, so long as it fits into the guidelines created for its use.

And if a bunch of "occupiers" come to the game, and purchase tickets, it can only help our attendance numbers

:)

If you can get close enough to a bozo to taser him, you can tackle him. kudo's to the umpire. The reason theY do the circle, is to avoid the circus of a bunch of over weight cops trying to catch a drunken bozo who is running a round like a chicken with it's head cut off. Adam Jones had the best idea. Dogs. 3 cops with dobermans. They are well trained and safer than a taser, but a hell of a lot more scary. Do that one time and I doubt you see too many more bozo's anytime soon.

I didn't see that. That is actually a very good (and realistic) solution in my opinion. German Shepherds are one of those things that can be comprehended, regardless of whether you are drunk or not.

I have no problem with the Doberman idea.

As for the overweight cops...ask for volunteers amongst the cops. I am sure you could find a surplus of young, fit, fast cops that would love a chance to tackle one of these bozos.

Evidently some local TV station thought Opening Day Batman was worthy of an interview for his actions. Chalk that up as a contributing factor IMO.
because of the positive media attention "batman" got on opening day and the widespread reporting that he wasn't charged with anything.

Charge these idiots to the fullest extent of the law. People shouldn't know that someone didn't get charged for being a moron either.

Seems like there has been an increase in fans running on the field since they started serving Natty Boh at the games...

I am in favor of taking these guys down hard, with or without tasers instead of doing the circle of love treatment to escort them off the field. If folks see other drunks being made examples of, they might just think twice.

I understand Mr Snuffleupagus' concerns but you are assuming the risk when your run onto the field.

Yea all true, it just makes me mad because we are already the butt of every joke already.

That's what they had at the Orange Bowl. Cops standing there around the perimeter with big German Shepherds.

No it doesn't.

Thanks. That clears it up for me. I appreciate the detailed lesson you just provided me.

How does it not? By putting it in print (particularly on a ticket which is physically in the hand of the buyer) it can be proven that the buyer had the material and was aware that by running on the field the person running would assume all liability for any injury that may befall on him/her whether caused by falling, being tackled, tasing or any other means.

I am not a lawyer so I don't know for sure, but if this is an incorrect assumption on my part, I would appreciate some additional information and detail on why rather than 'no it doesn't.'

Here's the winner. No policeman regardless of how fit he is wants to be embarrassed by running after some jerk that has all that space to run in. Being an X cop I know how hard it is to run in uniform with the equipment they carry. Let the dogs loose!
