Hamilton has broken the record for steals in a single season with major-league affiliated minor-league teams. Tuesday he stole four bases for AA Pensacola (Southern League) in the first game of a doubleheader, bringing his season total to 147 (with 33 CS) in 120 total games played between A+ Bakersfield and Pensacola. Vince Coleman stole 145 bases (with 31 CS) in 113 games for the Macon Redbirds (South Atlantic League [Cardinals]), in 1983. Since his promotion, Hamilton's steals per game and success ratio have declined a bit, but are still quite impressive.
