I think the wall and stadium does make a difference. The 5% on Cowser first catch was not that hard but it is probably in the stands in almost all other parks so it gets a low percentage. It would be interesting to go look at a few balls to right in Yankee stadium or left in Boston and see if some of the percentages of balls off walls or homers are on there higher then should be.
He knew he had to go longer today. It’s quite possible he pitched accordingly and sought to pitch to contact. Of course, that doesn’t explain the 4 walks but the approach worked. He went 7 and still was under 100 pitches.
I feel like the more typical "hitch" is a toe-tap, which Ohtani developed after struggling at first with his timing. He might be well served to switch to that move, which seems to be a good timing mechanism for a lot of hitters that prefer a higher leg kick on the load phase.
All good.
Maybe you can start making a thread before every new series the O's play and talk about how they will get destroyed.
Reverse lock jinx in full effect.
Ya, Kaiser was in his own world when it came to arrogance and incompetence. I remember a game (in Texas?) where he blew a call at 1st base early in the game and then instantly tossed Eddie Murray because Eddie looked at him wrong. It was no surprise that after the mass resignations Kaiser was one of the few who wasn't allowed to return. Everybody in the game wanted him gone. Same with Rich Garcia and Eric Gregg.
