Tryptamine
Don't be surprised if they announce a trade some time today. Last night #11 overall prospect, according to BA, Kyle Tucker was pulled for non health related reasons after only 2 ABs and Yordan Alvarez was a healthy scratch. It would have to be a big name to land both of them.

I read somewhere that the three guys they got would all make the Tigers' top 10. A rebuilding team that already has an albatross of a contract doesn't need Verlander.

They're definitely employing a very strong sabermetric philosophy. Very interesting because the plan worked. Did anyone notice what was mentioned during the broadcast about the analytics department relaying information to the coaching staff? The Astros organization has done a great job of putting people in positions to assist in the on-the-field product. And it’s no small thing that the coaching staff is open-minded enough to implement the information they receive. 1

They were both very happy and somehwat modest, but I suspect that they are/were beaming with more pride than they showed. o

Frobby
I think it’s important to point out that the Astros’ rise is NOT principally due to the fact that they had top draft picks three years in a row. Two of those picks (Correa and Bregman) panned out very nicely, but most of their key players either were drafted before the Astros got truly awful (like Keuchel and Springer), were international signings (Altuve, Gonzalez and Gurriel), or were acquired through free agency (Reddick) and trades (Marisnick, McCann, Gattis, Verlander, Peacock). Correa and Bregman were #2 and #6 on the Astros in WAR this season. So I think they were pretty significant contributors. Sounds like they made good decisions all around. Just read that Altuve was signed at 17 from Venezuela. That's pretty crazy to see where he is now. Seems like it's def better to be lucky than good at times.
