Per Connolly: O's intensifying interest in Morales (Roch says he's hearing no)

I'd be happy with either one. I would rate Morales a bit higher overall, but Cruz may be a bit more useful in those games where we play in NL parks. I could see Buck starting Cruz in LF in some of those games, but Morales would be pretty much a pinch-hitter only in those games. I think I'd rather it be Morales because he can back up first base, the Cruz PED cloud, and he is a switch-hitter, but I will have no complaints with signing either one.

I think Morales makes this team better. Maybe 1-2 wins better. Without a guy like Morales, we have a platoon of #7-9 hitters filling that spot.

And if you're sacrificing a 2nd round pick in exchange for either 2 years at below-market-value AAV, or 1 year at way-below-market-value AAV plus a 1st round pick next year....it's a no-brainer. How sweet would a #1-7 look like of Markakis, Machado, Jones, Davis, Morales, Wieters, Hardy?

7-9 ish hitters, not to mention two roster spots to platoon. Switch hitting KM is better.

Obligatory reference to bad Orioles pitching. Not that he won't hit well in Camden regardless.

I think this whole line of thinking is disingenuous. Even if our pitching was as bad as everyone says, they almost all made 7 outs out of 10. It's OPACY, NOT our old pitching.
