I think we will know alot about what the teams feels about Manny in the next weed to 10 days. If he is not getting better by this time next week I expect them to make a trade for an infielder. Myabe not a great one or even a good one but I can't see them putting Phelps on the playoff roster.

Lew Ford and Endy Chavez made their last playoff roster.

Chavez had 2500 major league at bats in his career at the time and 150 that season. Ford had over 1500 at bats and 80 that season. Cord Phelps has 114 in his career and just 1 this season there is a huge differences betweeen those three guys.

Ford hadn't even appeared in the majors for years before 2012, and had begun the year on buses between places like Waldorf and York. He was as unlikely a playoff starter as anyone I'd ever seen.

My therapist and doctor told me the MCL does. *shrug*

Sorry I have been busy, but I did not forget. After researching the MCL it appears I was wrong and this was the easiest explanation I was able to find:

Dr. Selesnick: The good news about MCL injuries is that unlike ACL tears, which are most often repaired through surgery, the MCL has a good blood supply and usually responds very well to non-surgical treatment. Depending upon the grade, a period of rest, bracing and physical therapy is usually sufficient for a complete healing process. The rest period is prescribed to include ice, compression and elevation (RICE), while the brace is designed to allow the knee to move back and forth but not laterally.

After a range of motion is regained and the swelling has diminished, the individual may work on strengthening the muscles of the quadriceps and hamstrings

Just to clarify: Not saying this is what Manny had injured, as I haven't followed enough lately as I have been really busy. Did they ever say which ligament was sprained for sure, or just that he sprained a ligament?

Are you the OT to the President? Would saying, "hey guys I'm a knee doctor and here's what I think..." lead to the collapse of global markets?

What did she get enhanced? I knew she looked different this season and couldnt put my finger on it...

Why do people do this?

a) some people are just very private by nature

b) some people are paranoid and protective about identity theft/fraud

c) some people don't want to admit they're chiropractors or dentists after giving medical advice

d) some people are actually not who they say they are on the internet (not me, Chuck Norris, of course)

e) some people want to be doctors but find education to be a time suck

f) short people got, nobody

      Tampa also rolled the dice on him one offseason with leaving him off the 40-man roster when his name was prominent as a top Rule 5 candidate. Nobody did the Anthony Santander thing out of A-ball with a catcher. He was a high school bat who commanded a $1.6M bonus, and some of why high school catchers maybe have 2nd place to high school pitchers as a risky demographic is they take so long to develop. The Mariners have Cal Raleigh now and Harry Ford later.    It makes "who will the backup catcher be in 2025" less of a mystery starting out the offseason.

      Sure, he’s by no means somebody that the Orioles should be overly resistant to part with if he’s a necessary piece in a deadline deal. But he’s not superfluous in the system so he’s not somebody I would expect they look to offer up as trade bait. I think the Orioles will try to deal from their strength in infield, corner OF and C, and avoid trying to deal any pitchers or CF. But if the team they’re trading with is demanding pitching or CF in return, Fabian and others the Orioles would probably prefer to hang onto will be on the table. Like when the Orioles traded Zach Showalter in the Flaherty deal last year, likely because the Cardinals were demanding pitching.

      It’s been a dramatic reversal. His command also looked good in Spring Training - 4 BB in 10.2 IP - so it was surprising to see it so bad early in the year. Hopefully it was just that back injury leading to the command issues and he’s over it now.

      Teams will never give him the hoped for mega bucks.  Even if he was unlikely to ever get much more than a two year deal.  No it seems no team will give him even a real good one year deal.  He will be forced to accept a "prove it deal" Honestly it might be time to go the Trevor Bauer deal.  Sign him for one year deal and if he is too much distraction you cut him.  No way a team does not sign him if he is not being intentionally black balled.  The Orioles could afford to take the chance being a great team a couple of arms away from winning it all.

      Considering we were DFA and losing him for zippo it a decent pick up. BTW, Hunt is showing in Seattle’s top 30 (#23) on MLB.com.

      Whether this is a good trade will depend on how good Hunt is defensively and with pitch calling as a catcher.    Right now I just throw him into the mix with Handley as a backup catcher. Its not a good sign that Tampa traded him for another minor league catcher. Means' yet to be determined arm issue and Kremer issue with a blister makes the loss of Baumann something to watch. Heasley and  Povich look like the next men up if the O's need to add a pitcher from AAA. Glad to see McGough move from AA to AAA.
