Trout has hit about .220 since August 1, coinciding with his team falling practically out of contention. That is the EXACT OPPOSITE of valuable.

Unless you are one of those people that believes the MVP should be exactly equivalent to the WAR Title Winner, I don't see how you could possibly even consider Trout for MVP.

OK, out of contention is an exaggeration (notwithstanding the folks on here who wanted to punt the season when the Os were 1.5 games off the wildcard in July).

But the fact is, Trout has come up small for 6 weeks now when his team has needed him most and the team has struggled.

Yes, he COULD get super hot and lead his team on a tear and into the playoffs. So could Chris Davis. But we are discussing the season so far and I don't think Trout at this point is worthy of MVP consideration.
