"Slow bat Matt" comes through - :scratchchinhmm: - oh wait! :clap3:

Per Paul Folk:

"That brought up Wieters as a pinch-hitter for Ryan Flaherty. Chapman got ahead of him 0-2 in the count, but Wieters jumped on a 101-mph fastball and ripped it to center field."

I feel like Matt has been super-clutch this year. He's had some enormous hits with the game on the line. His RBI totals aren't huge, but they always seem to come at really critical times.

It's not my imagination. The O's are 11-2 when Matt has an RBI, and his stats with RISP, 2-out RISP, late & close and high leverage are all excellent this year. He's been huge.

How many walk-offs and game winning hits does he have for this team, this season.

It would not surprise me, if he was leading the team in this regard. Probably neck and neck with Davis.

Big hits include:

- Three-run homer with 2 outs in the 9th in Anaheim; O's win 3-1

- 2-RBI single vs. Yankees in the 8th yesterday; O's win 3-1

- Walk-off single with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th for the win on Opening Day

He has the highest Win Probability Added of any hitter on the team, tied with Manny at 1.66. Davis is at 1.49 and Trumbo 1.46. Wieters also has the highest "clutch" rating on the Orioles this year, at 1.17 (but don't ask me how they calculate this).

I think it might have been the the Anaheim game, talking with my son via FB during the game and he was like crap Matt is up, he hasn't look good at the plate tonight. I said something like, Matt is always better late in the game, when the game is on the line, and he laughs at me, and Matt launches the ball into the outfield. :)

I love it, when I am right. But, then again, who doesn't!!!!!

Matt Wieters' .344 batting average in plate appearances that began with an 0-2 count is the 3rd highest in Major League Baseball (with a minimum 20 plate appearances.)

Another very meaningful RBI tonight, giving the O's the 2-1 lead in the 7th on a long home run to CF.
