Three Rule V Players

Just about every year under Buck, we have carried a Rule V player. It almost seems like we have three this year-Rickard, the actual Rule V player; Kim, who they wanted to demote and Bundy, who has no options. How do you think Buck does with them this year?

Not bad. He'll manage it well, just like he did in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

I think Buck plays Rickard until he proves he can't play, he uses Bundy out of the pen for ~85 innings and he lets Kim rot on the bench.

So far he has been lucky that Bundy appears healthy and Rickard looks like an everyday player. To that extent, Kim is the only "Rule V player" in the sense that he is being carried more for team control than immediate production. Not a problem until either of the others stop producing. Then it will become a challenge.

I personally think Rickard is going to have a season that mirrors Jimmy Paredes, but I'd be pleased if he proved me wrong. Paredes wouldn't have been so bad if he could field.

I feel like this team has to get a significant contribution from Bundy if they want to contend this year. Either that or rely on Tillman, Gausman, Jimenez and Gallardo to all pitch effectively while staying healthy and making 30+ starts. The Orioles have no room for error in their starting rotation. If any of those four pitchers is ineffective or miss significant time, they're basically going to have two replacement level starters in the rotation unless Bundy steps up and delivers the goods.
