Starting pitching better now but bullpen worse.

The starting pitching has been a big problem and we have tried to use Wright,Wilson,Ubaldo for awhile. After the break Buck made the move to Worley and Bundy. Those guys have pitched well but in turn the pen is falling apart in key middle inning spots because now we have those two pieces missing from middle innings.

And the hitting stinks all of a sudden. Trumbo and Schoop are regressing to norms. Davis and Wieters are completely lost. AJ and Manny are scuffling. Only JJ, Kim, and Pedro are getting consistently good ABs and hitting the ball.

I would like to see both Wieters and Davis get some rest.

One way or another, this team needs to add pitching if it wants to have a chance at winning the division. Either you need a starter so Worley or Bundy can go back to relief, or you need a better relief option for innings 5-7.

Yeah that's why i didn't get people saying don't get Cashner since he no better then Worley or Bundy. That may or may not be true but he isn't replacing them he would have replaced Despaigne or Roe at the time.

I really think Wieters calls a poor game, can't frame and doesn't block well. It's going to make average starters (at best) look abysmal.

This is a very good point. The pitching NEEDS to be upgraded somehow. I'm hoping we get a reliever to upgrade over Despaigne (he has options and can be sent down till September) and a SP to push Worley/Bundy back into the long relief role. That would be the ideal deadline. Even something like Abad and Erasmo Ramirez

What choice does he have? The bench is horrible. Reimold has a .723 OPS and that's by far the best OPS among bench players on this team.

Already explained. Caleb should at least be playing every other day for defense if nothing else. Davis can sit vs LHP, shift Trumbo to 1B and give Kim some ABs or call up Mancini and go back to 12 pitchers.

The more I think about it, the more I think that Bundy might be most valuable to the team in a long relief role, but only if we can find another starter somewhere.

Mancini is going to be the DH next year IMO if we don't keep Trumbo, with Sisco catching if Wieters doesn't come back
