Why wasn't Mike Wright called up on Sept 1?

I'd rather have Despaigne or Andy Oliver here vs Wilson or Wright.

Tyler Wilson has a better idea as to "HOW TO PITCH" than does Mike Wright BUT Mike Wright has better stuff (speed of pitch, deception). Both need to correct flaws in the Off-Season to be viable canidates for the Oriole in 2017.

Mike Wright needs to learn that at MLB Level, his 96 MPH fast ball will get hit and hit hard. He needs to have more movement on the pitch and develop better secondary stuff. He also needs to learn that his lack of sucess at the MLB Level is not his team-mates fault but his own. The development of ownership of lousy game and the ensuing improvement from that poor game is a "MUST" for one Mike Wright. MLB is not the Minors.

Tyler Wilson needs to have a strength and conditioning program that will allow him to keep his "Stuff" at a high level for a 162 game schedule. He may also want to show his numbers to the batter when he turns in his windup to allow for a little deception in his delivery. He could get onthe same prgram that has enabled Chris Tillman to be an effective MLB Starter and could add a few MPH to his fastball as did Tilly with an improved delivery with touch of deception.

Should either one be pitching for the Orioles the remainder of the season??? Only in the scenarios that Wilson pitched in last night against the Tigers.

I know everyone is complaining about Wright now.

Just for fun...After Ubaldo just had 3 great starts in a row...

Compare Wright vs Jimenez, stats this year...ERA, winning percentage, and whip...

Anyone?

Mike Wright had ONE game in which his run support was 2 or less, his ERA was 7.11

Ubaldo had SEVEN games in which his run support was 2 or less, his ERA was 6.63

Mike Wright had 4 games with 3 to 5 Runs Scored, his ERA was 6.65

Ubaldo had 7 games with 3 to 5 Runs Scored, his ERA was 5.82

Mike Wright had 7 games with 6 Plus runs of support, his ERA was 5.80

Ubaldo had 8 games of 6 Plus runs of support, his ERA was 4.89

In Wright's case, I think a lot of it is between the ears, though not all of it.

I was at his MLB debut.....and I've been scratching my head ever since. I know it's sometimes hard to face a rookie with little/no scouting reports, but he was amazing that day vs. a solid lineup. Hit 97 in the 7th or 8th inning.

He has the tools......it almost HAS to be mostly, or at least significantly, upstairs with him. It's all there, it just hasn't been put together.

I agree with this. I saw Mike Wright pitch earlier this year in Kansas City, and I came away impressed. I think he has the goods to become a very good middle of the rotation pitcher, and maybe even better than that. I am not ready to give up on Mike Wright. I can see a 2017 Rotation with Tillman, Gausman, Bundy, Ubaldo and Wright.

Which further begs the question. Why do we have Gallardo and Miley?

    • Sure, he’s by no means somebody that the Orioles should be overly resistant to part with if he’s a necessary piece in a deadline deal. But he’s not superfluous in the system so he’s not somebody I would expect they look to offer up as trade bait. I think the Orioles will try to deal from their strength in infield, corner OF and C, and avoid trying to deal any pitchers or CF. But if the team they’re trading with is demanding pitching or CF in return, Fabian and others the Orioles would probably prefer to hang onto will be on the table. Like when the Orioles traded Zach Showalter in the Flaherty deal last year, likely because the Cardinals were demanding pitching.
    • Please please please stop with the Bauer! It's unbelievably tired, and smarter minds than you or I have decided that he's not worth the trouble. That means something. ME knows what he's doing.
    • It’s been a dramatic reversal. His command also looked good in Spring Training - 4 BB in 10.2 IP - so it was surprising to see it so bad early in the year. Hopefully it was just that back injury leading to the command issues and he’s over it now.
    • Teams will never give him the hoped for mega bucks.  Even if he was unlikely to ever get much more than a two year deal.  No it seems no team will give him even a real good one year deal.  He will be forced to accept a "prove it deal" Honestly it might be time to go the Trevor Bauer deal.  Sign him for one year deal and if he is too much distraction you cut him.  No way a team does not sign him if he is not being intentionally black balled.  The Orioles could afford to take the chance being a great team a couple of arms away from winning it all.
    • Considering we were DFA and losing him for zippo it a decent pick up. BTW, Hunt is showing in Seattle’s top 30 (#23) on MLB.com.
    • Whether this is a good trade will depend on how good Hunt is defensively and with pitch calling as a catcher.    Right now I just throw him into the mix with Handley as a backup catcher. Its not a good sign that Tampa traded him for another minor league catcher. Means' yet to be determined arm issue and Kremer issue with a blister makes the loss of Baumann something to watch. Heasley and  Povich look like the next men up if the O's need to add a pitcher from AAA. Glad to see McGough move from AA to AAA.
    • Time to see Cedric Mullins get his act together in Norfolk for a while. He's got some work to do.
