Every beat writer in America should take the week before Winter Meetings off because there sure isn't anything to write about.

"Life comes with few certainties beyond death, taxes and long lines for the men’s room at football games. But you will be 100 percent correct if you predict that the Orioles will make at least one selection in the Rule 5 draft at next month’s Winter Meetings.

The final day is more predictable than the ending of a romantic comedy. Team meets minor leaguer, team falls in love and they wind up together."

Winter meetings are the Gaylord National Resort in Oxon Hill MD this year.    I think I'm going to wander over there at some point and just check it out.    I'm not sure there's really anything that goes on that is for the general public, but it still might be interesting.

Nothing really geared toward the public. I've visited the Gaylord in Nashville for the Winter Meetings. Cocktail hour near one of the bars is a good place to camp out. You will see plenty of familiar faces.

Friend of mine and local product, Ty Brooks, will be giving the Diversity seminar. After working recently in front office for Pirates he's working in commish office. Definitely worth checking out if open to the public.

In less than a week, baseball executives, sports business professionals and hopeful job seekers will take over the Gaylord National Resort & Conference Center in National Harbor, Maryland, just outside of Washington D.C. for the 2016 Baseball Winter Meetings and PBEO Job Fair.

As someone that is making the trip for the first time, I was curious to find out what others had done to get the most out of their experience. Seeking advice, I turned to social media for help. What you see below is a compilation of advice from lawyers, executives, interns, and professionals from all areas

The Orioles should just show up for the last day to take part in the Rule 5 draft.

Every year they say they've started conversations with other teams about trades, and with agents about players, but I don't think any of those conversations ever turns into anything.

Maybe this time. Maybe not.

If you are expecting the Orioles to make any big move you would be setting yourself up for that disappointment. They are very close to what their payroll will be.
