The Market Will Come To Dan

Kind of tough to call Nelson Cruz, Mark Trumbo, or even Pedro Alvarez dumpster diving.

I always feel like today is the hardest day of the off season for Orioles fans.  You see other teams leave the winter meetings with their bright shiny toys and you are left with another ugly sweater, aka rule 5 pick, from your uncle Danny.

You have to think of the Orioles off season like the lunar calendar.  You may get some gifts in December but Christmas isn't until early February.

Trading a future HOFer for Scott Feldman.

You have said this multiple times, and you really need to pump the brakes on this, IMO. It's incredibly hyperbolic. You can say that it was a bad trade, because it was, but the exaggeration hurts your argument.

He won the Cy Young once and finished ninth twice. He'll be 31 on opening day, and has a 74-46 career record with one outstanding year and two very good years. That's not a hall of famer. Is it possible? I guess, but he has a lot of work to do and not a lot of time to do it.

On a lighter note, did anyone see that Boras is trying to market Pedro Alvarez as an OF'er now?  DD is playing this perfectly IMO.

There really isn't a market for MW right now.  Same for Trumbo, unless the Rockies get crazy.  The DH spots are about filled up and Pedro is left without a dance partner.

Would anyone trade one year of lefthander Wade Miley for $9.25 million (or two years at $20.75 million with the team option) for one year of lefthand-hitting Seattle outfielder Seth Smith at $7 million?

Steamer projects the 30-year-old Miley with a 2017 WAR of 1.7 in 24 starts and the 34-year-old Smith with a 2017 WAR of 1.2 in 112 games.

Thoughts?

And yet KC just did it

Wade Davis is very good maybe as good a Britton

Wade Davis is injured and no where near as good as Zach was last season. Also, KC's run is done and will be for a long time. They do not have Manny and Zach to trade next year. And they did not make the playoffs last season.

Dan said prices are too high and Buck said he will rest his veterans more. Same as it ever was. And you may ask yourself
How do I work this?
And you may ask yourself
Where is that large free agent signing?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my World Series Orioles
And you may tell yourself
This is a beautiful team.

Free agents dissolving...and free agents removing
There is free agents  at the bottom of the ocean
Under the water, carry the water at the bottom of the ocean
Get  the free agent  at the bottom of the ocean

Dumpster diving. Same as it ever was.

You may ask yourself

WTF is this?

Did you know that Arrieta was a future Hall of Famer at that time?

Also, you got the winning powerball numbers for tonight's drawing?

Jake Arrieta is never going to the HOF.  Jake is 30+ with 18 Career WAR, He doesn't even make the Cubs Hall of Fame.

Jake has as much chance of the Hall as does Matt Wieters.

Nick Markakis has a better shot. Or Adam Jones. Yes.

Jake could drive there. It's a lovely drive up thru NY. If you crest the mountain above Syracuse after dark it's a breathtaking view.
