It just seems strange that a guy who is ranked right where the O's select, has received the least "attention". He does play a position of need in both the field and the line-up. It makes no financial sense to pass on a guy who will make 25% of what Tex would make, with a huge assumption that Tex would even sign here.

Now I do think there is some value to bluffing to the people ahead of you who want to fall, but let's get to the other part of the question.

Do the O's see something in Smoak that says he will be a bust? After all, the #4 pick is not where I'm looking to select a good ball player. It should be a future All-Star.
