No one has reverse splits. Or so few do that it's helpful to just act like no one does, because by the time they've piled up enough PAs to figure out if someone really is the exception (instead of random variation) that proves the rule they're 35 and nobody cares anymore. Looking at a month or two of L/R splits from a single batter is about as meaningful as using a Ouija Board. -

Some chance we'll get the Austin Hays roster move in the next few hours. I noticed he played RF in Bowie last night. Arizona's development of Brandon Pfaadt was interesting to prospect watchers. He threw 167 minor league innings in 2022 to lead his league by a lot, kind of the same as Gallen did with MLB pitchers, postseason included, in 2023. -

Honestly I just don't sweat MiLB defensive reports very much. I've seen too many inaccurate reports from all over the place, both ways. DJ Stewart was supposed to be competent. I saw multiple first hand accounts questioning Manny's defense and he was one of the best I've ever seen. Wieters was supposed to be a stud, Caleb Joseph was supposedly a poor defender. Westburg supposedly had limited range. The list goes on and on. Not saying I discount all of it, I think there are a lot of factors that go into MiLB defense that maybe don't apply as much at the MLB level. Bad fields, bad lighting, and honestly just a general lack of focus. I think it's easy to be a bit non-chalant with your defense when you're at Perdue Stadium in front of 3,000 fans, a little different when you're at OPACY. The focus level has to ratchet up a bit.
