Brett Gardner

Ellsbury has been discussed ad naseum, and that would not be a good pick up for the Os, but what about Gardner? If the Os will trade with the Yankees, and that is a big if, why not look at prying away one of their many OF pieces. He would solve the LH bat and leadoff position. He will certainly decline and he is a 10/5 guy so it might be hard to persuade him to go to the Os, but why not give it a shot?

The Orioles have outfield prospects ready for the majors, Gardner makes no sense and he will be 35 years old by the end of next season.  The problem for the Orioles and always has been is lack of starting pitching depth.

Right but Gardner is only signed for one more year (at a very reasonable price). DD has made it clear they want a LH bat. The Os don't have a good leadoff hitter and it gives Hayes or any of the Os other minor leaguers a bit more time for seasoning.
