What’s happened to Miguel Castro?

Castro's command has been pretty bad this August and really since late June. Since June 25th, he's pitched to a 6.26 ERA over 23 IPs even though batters have hit just .256. That's because he's walked 19 and hit two batters over that span while striking out 19. The old 19-19 K-BB ratio  is no way to have success, especially if you are not a strikeout pitcher.

I haven't watched him closely enough to see if it's mechanical, but his velocity is about the same so it doesn't appear to be anything to suggest injury. It seems that something is not right and as usual, no one on the Orioles staff seems to be able to fix it. Sure would be nice for a guy to good bad, and then hear a story where either McDowell or Mills fixed them after noticing a flaw in the mechanics or had them make an adjustment that help create success.

Instead we consistently see pitchers like Castro, Bundy, Brach struggle with no adjustments noticed.

Castro's best role is probably as a three inning bridge guy but he'll need to command his pitches much better for him refind success.

Buck puts him in the most high leverage situations time after time after time. And he's thrown a ton of innings for a 23 year old reliever.

That's Bucks fault. Since he is struggling. Isn't there someone else Buck could use?

Gausman is 3-1 with an ERA of 2. They have him pitching solely from the stretch I read. How come Orioles pitching coaches can't see these things?

It's an organizational problem. Started 25 years ago or so. Seems to be about the time Peter Angelos bought the team. IMO

I don't remember much about him. If he was doing a good job what happened to him? Did he get fired or resign?

He retired from coaching and works in Atlanta’s front office.   Was here in 2014-16, when Gausman had his best two seasons.

Isn't there a little more to that story? Didn't he tell the Orioles he wanted to "retire" to a coordinator/special assistant position and recommended Dom Chiti (who was his lieutenant and our bullpen coach) to replace him as pitching coach, and then Chiti left for Atlanta when the Orioles failed to renew his contract or talk to him about the pitching coach vacancy and no one with the Orioles had the decency to tell him what was going on?
