No final defense about it, I find the lack of International spending last season curious to say the least.  Late start or no.  I think last season's payroll had an impact.

Davis should already be gone, anyone lost off the 40 would provide less negative value than Davis.

Davis will still be here when your thoughts turn to Spring.

The Yankees have signed a 16 yr old who has exit velocities exceeding 110 MPH and a 6.1 sixty time, widely expected to be a Mike Trout/Bryce Harper HOF level elite talent, and the obvious top international free agent, Jasson Dominguez to $5.4 million deal.

This is a shining example of how MLB doesn't give a cr@p about parity, equity, or competitive balance.   These international guys should be either a part of the June Amateur draft, available to all teams, or if international labor laws preclude this, then MLB needs to create an international draft for these guys, so that teams with the worst records can obtain the best players, as opposed to Championship teams simply adding more Hall of Fame talent to their rosters...   What a total sham....

Every team not under sanction had 5.4M to spend on him.

How is that not equity?

Giving the worst teams the best players is the opposite of equity.

There's a hard cap on IFA signings. You think every other team wouldn't throw this guy $6 mil? This is one area where the parity argument doesn't hold much weight. It just happened to be the Yankees this time.

They did the work they reap the potential reward.

I mean I hear you. The Yankees suck. Baseball revenues are incredibly skewed towards a few teams. But remember the Orioles do have a $15.5 million international bonus baby at Bowie. The system was far less equitable a few years ago...and there's more risk when investing that kind of money into a 16 year old.

How much can you spend. If you are willing to accept sanctions?  Is their a limit?

The next collective bargaining agreement should address this. MLBPA is NOT in favor of an additional draft.

I'm assuming we had the most money.  How much scouting did we really need?  Just give this dude all of our money.

If the kid busts the Yankees are going to pretty much be out a whole year's worth of international talent.
