Nunez slumping again

In his last 15 games and  62 at bats he has  a  194/275/258/533.   He apparently goes through these streaks--- hot and cold.

He needs to be taught to recognize the spin on the curveball, he looked silly a few times on the curveball in the dirt.

Franmil in Cleveland is the BEST real life Pedro Cerrano I've ever seen.

I do understand a bit of a keener eye for Nunez's slumps as I think the burden of proof is still on him to show he can sustain as a cromulent MLB'er.  It's only half the at-bats this year but Santander has already leapfrogged him in my mind as a possible cog in the next good team.

I can't speak for everyone, but Nunez, to me, never seemed like a cog in the next good team. He seemed (seems) like a good placeholder as a power hitter, when he is hitting.

I agree. It’s just that, sometimes, he shows patience in his approach and shortens up. Sometimes, not. Sometimes, he drives the hall all over the field; and sometimes, he gets long and pull happy. 

But when he does make contact, he drills it. His exit velo is really elite.

He’s a fringe player on a competitive team but during a rebuild the home runs are nice. I’ll settle for his overall play while he’s cheap and the hope for more upside sticks around.

I think the jury is still out on Nunez's long term future with the O's.   He is in his first full season in the majors.   He could be a everyday DH on a contending team if he can maintain a 800+ OPS through a full season.  I hope he finishes strong.

Maybe we can give him a nine-figure contract so he can be terrible forever and still play "professional" baseball.

A .309 OBP and .787 OPS while being the primary DH just isnt good enough. Mountcastle might have a spot open for him next year after all.

Alex Wells for rookie of the year, 2021, leading the modern Baby Birds of Wells, Lowther, Kremer, Baumann and Zimmerman.    It will be reminiscent of Estrada, Pappas, Barber, Fisher and Walker in 1960, only better.
