While I respect Hyde, I think he was being a little gracious. Sisco's percentiles according to statcast in 2019:  Pop time to 2B: 2.10 (9th percentile) Framing: (7th percentile) MPH: 79.1 MPH (23rd percentile)  Add in that he's not a good tagger at plays on the plate, and his game awareness is below average, and I'm not sure we're looking at a guy who is starting from "average". Can he improve? Sure. How much? Probably not enough to be an everyday catcher in the big leagues unles

Clearly after tonight hanging is too good for Chance Sisco.

So unfair after all he did tonight to get us back in the race for the #1 overall draft pick next summer.  What the heck happened to everybody's priorities anyway?  You're all acting as if your favorite baseball team winning games matters.  I thought we were all to advanced for that now.

My oblique reference to John Bale was because he was traded for Jayson Werth.  O's first round pick in '97, was a top 50 prospect in all of baseball in 2000.  The O's traded him for that mediocre LOOG

He actually hit better than Severino in August, .200/.307/.356 compared to .197/.246/.295.

Catching is a tough gig, and he had a bad inning. The Orioles can afford to be patient with him. This loss gets us one step closer to the #2 pick.

Wynns will be 29 next year and had a .689 OPS this season at Norfolk with the super happy fun ball. He will be up as the third catcher on Tuesday, but he doesn't have the bat to meet the minimum standard of backup catcher.

I’m fine with him playing. 

I just don’t think overall he has done enough to warrant much enthusiasm.

Considering the Orioles have a first baseman that doesn't have the bat to meet the minimum standard of a pitcher, not sure that matters.

Fyi: Wynns had a higher average in the majors than Sisco last year and this year.

He hit a homer and still managed to singehandedly lose a winnable game for us.

Sorry to vent but I have seen enough.

Whether he stays or is toast, I don't see how he is holding back the rebuild. He's just filling a spot right now. 

There is only one player who is holding back the rebuild right now.

I remain comfortable that Sisco is a much better hitter than Wynns.    Wynns’ BA may have been a little better in a small sample, but his OBP and SLG are significantly below.     Wynns’ advantage is on the defensive side.    

I am not that invested in Sisco with Rutschman in the fold.     He’s been pretty disappointing, though.

If you’re referring to Sisco, at the very least we have learned that he can’t throw.

And he can’t hit.

Find a position where that’s ok and He’ll be perfect.

      So it is different from last year? Last year the games were something like 3:00, 4:30, 7:00, and 8:30.   Have they said it will be different this year???

      The discussion about Cle vs NYY is interesting. The Os always struggle at Cle and their BP is awesome but the starters are meh and so is the offense. I prefer to play NY. Worse pen, doesn’t run as much.  Not a bunch of contact hitters.

      Bautista, if he is back to his old self, would be a big addition. Dominguez and Soto have to improve the walk rate. They certainly have swing and miss, but at a significant cost. Cano can throw up in the zone and get misses, but he is used so often he is rarely sharp. He is used to induce ground balls, and the sinker is fairly effective when he is tired.  Akin, Webb and Coulombe are getting some swing and miss. They are all above average in swinging strike percentage, according to FanGraphs. MLB average is generally around 11.2% from year to year, and Akin (second on the Orioles behind Grayson 13.6) is at 13.2, Dominguez 12.4, Cano 12.2, Soto 12.9, Webb 11.8, Coulombe is 9.9 and Cionel 9.5. In fairness to Coulombe (11.8) and Webb (13.7), they are higher over the last three years. They have not been healthy for a fair amount of this season and pitched through some things that made those numbers dip, perhaps.  Bautista was 18% in the same period of 2022-2024. He would be 11th in MLB in 2024. No other Oriole is in the top 100 in MLB. Grayson Rodriguez is at #120. It should be noted that Andrew Walters is at 18.8, ranking 7th. He was our unsigned 18th round pick in 2022. All of that aside, I am not sure the pen is structured the same as in recent years. There may be some moves there. Or, perhaps it is like you wrote, and they focus on Soto and Dominguez making adjustments to having more command, decreasing the walks. Those two are getting a little expensive as well. I guess we’ll see.

      How much different? They sat Judge yesterday, they threw their playoff starters for 5+ innings yesterday and today. They are also playing for the best record in the AL. They aren't mailing it in.

      It’s not just the O’s. I’ve checked the Dodgers who have similar prices and they have a lot of upper deck NLDS games 2 & 3 available. Same for the NLCS. yanks still have seats available also. — In general, I’m sure alot of fans are just gonna wait till the day of to grab tickets.

      That makes no sense. If they had to win their current series would have looked much different.
