Are the Nationals possibly doing the thing where you put your #5 starter against the other team's ace to get an edge the subsequent two games?  That would be one heck of a gambit.

I don't think that you would put yourself in a situation when you need to win back to back games on the road to survive.

I also wonder is you could keep a healthy Scherzer off the mound.

They talked about this some on the game.  It was kind of to hide him from the Rule 5 last year.  He was getting back from his TJ at the end of 2018 and they took a calculated risk leaving him off the 40-man but did what they could to tilt the odds.

I get the Nats fans frustrations with some of the calls but they were outplayed. They also got a huge break in Game 1 on the missed catchers interference.

Nats didn't capitalize when they had Soto on 3rd with no outs in the 2nd inning.  I think if they had driven in a run or two that inning, it changes the game.   Couldn't even get a lame-ass sac fly.   Cole a little less confident and maybe second guessing himself.

I don't think that is interference and is that not a challengeable play? Dave Martinez needs to keep himself in check even if he is pissed off. Nats got the lead and the last thing he wants to do is rattle his own team.
