...taking a look at the plausible landing spots for the top free agents left. A top-six list is a little awkward and perhaps less SEO friendly than a top five, but our fifth- and sixth-place players were projected for the same salary, so we’ve included both here. This post isn’t necessarily a prediction of where certain guys will sign, but rather, it’s a look at which teams should be in the market for these top talents given what we know about their ambitions and financial priorities. Spoiler: You won’t see the Red Sox listed below.

Or the Orioles.

I read one overview type piece that wondered if the Orioles or Tigers would consider Didi because literally EVERYONE has a shortstop.

There's an early report of Reds interest there (limiting their potential Villar interest with Galvis already aboard), but that leaves Jose Iglesias homeless.   The Tigers used Jordy Mercer at utility when they started using Willi Castro, so those seem to be the veteranosity shortstop options if we tilt Villar back towards 2B or don't have him at all, and Iglesias/Castro prefer 400 AB's to a bench role on a better team.

I found this interesting:

Iglesias has been linked to the Orioles in the past, but he brings some baggage. They did their homework on him last winter, found that he’s developed a reputation as a negative influence in the clubhouse and passed on him.

Iglesias has registered a career 6.3 dWAR, per Baseball-Reference.com, and Hechavarría has a 6.2 dWAR. They’d both make sense as far as what the club is seeking on the field.

If you’re ranking the possibilities, I think you’d be wise to place Hechavarría ahead of Iglesias.
