I think this is the concern for Hall, taken from an old Frobby post:

Notes
Hall has been scorching since late last year. He slashed .378/.441/.500 in August and is at .365/.467/.429 so far this season. He’s continued to steal bases like he did late last summer, too. Of his 22 steals last year, 15 came in August. Hall has seven bags in 16 games so far in 2019. He’s a slash and dash type of hitter and that style of play works best against bad, lower-level defenses, which is part of why he’s got a .523 BABIP right now. That’s got to come down, but this is a strong start.

Age 20

Hall’s Sally league stats,

.298 Avg - 5th in the league

.385 OBP - 9th

33 SB - 3rd

138 hits - 2nd

78 Runs - 4th

.780 OPS - 12th

All in his first full season of pro ball at age 20. His makeup must be pretty good considering he was the table setter all year for a really good Delmarva team.  Could we chalk the strikeouts up to him being a team player and “working” pitchers?  Going deep in counts leads to SO.  Just saying...

He’s a little underrated here IMO, but it’s good that are system has gotten to where we can have debates like this at 15-20.  Even if Hall is just a 2B, you could make an argument for him to be ranked higher than even a couple of the pitchers that were ranked higher.  Like Hanifee or Rom.

Hernaiz was risky ranking him this high, but I’d argue ranking Hall so low might be more “risky“.

I’ll just copy and paste this when Hall is ranked today. Haha

I like Hall but if you don't have enough power to keep pitchers honest and you don't play a premium position it is going to be rough going, particularly if the K rate is suspect.

I get what you’re saying but the dude is 20. His birthday is 5/22/19, meaning he played the first third of the season at 19. He had all of 64 pro games under his belt before this year. We knew he was a project out of Canada when we drafted him. That’s why he was available in the 2nd round.

The power argument is overblown at the moment IMO.

If he just needed to grow into power it wouldn’t be an issue.

It’s his swing. He’s an extreme ground ball guy. Those types tend to have elevated BA in the low minors because the defensive quality is lower, especially when you are fast like Hall is. So basically he has to change the swing to lift the ball without any room for error as far as swing and miss.

Any indications that he's been attempting to make that adjustment?
