Orioles went from 58th highest per player salary to 157th. This includes most professional sports in the world.

Four of the five biggest declines among the world's best paid sports teams are Major League Baseball teams, according to data from the annual Global Sports Salary Survey [PDF].

With an average annual pay of $2.23 million per player, the Kansas City Royals fell 84 spots to No. 161. During the prior season, the average Royals player made $3.73 million.

According to the annual research from Sporting Intelligence, only the Toronto Blue Jays (down 123 places) and the Baltimore Orioles (down 99 spots) fell more than the Royals during the last season. The Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League had the fourth highest decline on the list, falling 74 spots. The Arizona Diamondbacks are the other MLB team with one of the top five worldwide declines, falling 68 places on this year's ranking.

The sad thing is the Orioles have a horrible team and instead of any talk about adding players that could help the team all the forum threads seem to be about team payroll and finances.

Austin Hays could help the team. Keegin, Akins, many other names I can't spell (yet) will help the team.

Overall yes, their per player is down. But every single player they now have on their roster gets a RAISE next year.

We're rebuilding. We get it. Players are gone. Overall payroll is down. It's the definition of a rebuild.

Davis doesn't.  Factor in cost of living his salary declines.  Same with Cobb.
