I remember the Jays used to do a lot of this under Anthopoulus. I believe they would go even more extreme, like immediately DFAing the guy after claiming. 

Anyway, we've managed to cycle out a lot of 40-man cruft while building out some decent upper minors depth. It's good stuff.

Yeah, he had his fun, but he’s seriously declined. Plus the legal issues. I do not care, because the charges were dismissed, but some people will care and I doubt he’s worth the hassle.

26. Good 2017 with the Rays. Can start or relieve. 223 IP in AAA over 4 years with a 3.71 ERA. He’s out of options. 

There’s a case to be made that he’s at least better than a handful of pitchers on the 40 man roster. With Bryan Holaday here on a milb deal, we could DFA Wynns as well. 

I think Faria fits and could get some “starts”.

Older guy, but he's a lefty I could see getting a chance to shore up the 'pen.

Me too. I also think they should have taken a flyer on Jerad Eickhoff. The Padres just inked him to a minor league. Missed opportunity. Would have also preferred him over Hess.
