Searching MLBTR, the last Covey article is him electing free agency on Jan 22.

No sign of a Rays signing there.

His wife/GF not really sure posted it on instagram. But you are right, nothing official yet.

It appears that Tijuan Walker is getting close to signing with the Twins. Edwin Jackson signed an milb deal  Sanchez is hurt for all of next season.  So I’m removing those three names from the unsigned SP list.  Cashner seems like too good a fit.  Nobody from this list recently has gotten a mlb deal recently.  Maybe Walker?

Cody Anderson SP
Chad Bettis RP / SP
Clay Buchholz SP
Trevor Cahill RP / SP
Andrew Cashner RP / SP
Marco Estrada SP
Matt Harvey SP
Jeremy Hellickson SP

JC Ramirez SP
Clayton Richard SP
Danny Salazar SP

Jason Vargas SP

Looks like there is a reason these guys are still out there. Sanchez had shoulder surgery and isn’t expected back till September. Walker threw 85 mph at a recent workout. Salazar has had 4 shoulder surgeries and only threw 86 mph in his one outing last year. See the MLBTR article below,

Cashner is looking like the best option. Maybe Matt Harvey. Ubaldo signed a milb deal with COL.

What about Trevor Cahill?

He just turned 31. Career 4.21 ERA.

In 2018, he pitched to a 3.76 ERA (110 ERA+), which included 20 starts.

Last season, he struggled, but he finished strong. He pitched to a 2.40 ERA over his last 9 appearances.

Seems like a good bounce back candidate to me.

Cahill to the Giants.  So much for this idea.

Roch is reporting the Orioles  aren't done after signing LeBlanc (watch out free agent market!!!). Here are the options, basically:

Clay Buchholz
Trevor Cahill
Andrew Cashner
Jhoulys Chacin
Marco Estrada
Matt Harvey
Jeremy Hellickson (he LOVES Camden Yards!)
Edwin Jackson
Tommy Milone
Clayton Richard
Aaron Sanchez - injured for 2020
Ervin Santana
James Shields (didn't pitch in 2019, O's scouted him last year)
Taijuan Walker
Steven Wright

Milone it is.

Would you sign Cashner to a 1 yr/3 million deal with a full no trade clause?

I think this is what he would want, and I’d say yes at this point. He’d be worth more two us for a year than two low level prospects. He’d help with the effort to provide some stability so that we can actually put pitchers in situations where they have “good” chances to succeed. Instead of the mad scramble to cover IP like I anticipate will happen.

A rotation of,

Means, Cashner, Cobb, Wojo, Stewart/Hess=opener w/ Millione/Leblanc=bulk reliever

We could actually see a bullpen come together, centered around Givens and Harvey.

Givens, Harvey, Armstrong, Castro, Bleier, Hess/Stewart, Millone/Leblanc, Bailey/Rucker
