Dan traded a rather large amount of International slot money (750K) to the Phillies for Jack.  I was livid because, well he was rather obviously not a player.  I in fact predicted he would be released the following spring training (I was off by a couple weeks).

Turns out that the whole trade was part of an against the rules trade between the two teams the season before.

Why the teams weren't punished for such activity I don't know. 

Jack became a bit of a running gag.
