If only we had an OF prospect who was (apparently) doing great at Bowie and was ready for the majors.

Does this promotion indicate anything about management plans? I don’t see how you could promote Mountcastle to replace a short stop, but we already have two shortstops, neither of which can hit a lick. Why bring up a third shortstop with exactly the same profile?

You never know exactly when the super 2 cutoff will be. You have to go into June to be absolutely safe.

Urias is probably the 3rd SS behind Velazquez and Valaika.  He has been mostly a 2B for the last few years.

He was probably called up because Velazquez is going to share CF with Mullins.

Well, we now have three non-hitters on the roster, plus Mullins, who is also a non-hitter. Which means three of our daily starting nine from day to day will be offensive non-entities: two of those four plus Davis.

Probably the toughest player on the roster to lose.  But maybe it's for the best - even if we "fall out of contention" in these next 10 days.  It'd be nice to see him at close to 100% when he comes back.  The quad was obviously limiting him.

Are we sure Urias can't hit a lick?  His career pro OPS is .833, although most of that is in Mexico, with some stints in the PCL. Last year he OPS'd .793 in AAA, but being the PCL that was 12th on the team (min 100 PAs) or 19th (min 50 PAs).  Was the best hitter on the Diablos Rojos del Mexico in 2017 at 23, OPSing over 1.000.  But Mexico City is at 7300' altitude...

It's hard to tell when you're in weird contexts.  It's like trying to draft that guy from University of New Mexico where they score 23 runs a game.
