So since way back in 2019 there have been 14 instances of a player hitting more homers than games for four or more games.  Twice last year players hit six homers in four games.  Luke Voit and Aaron Judgt had six homers in five games this year.  Nelson Cruz totally legally hit seven in five last year at the age of 73.

Thanks, Drungo, I knew you’d be the one to answer this question.   It’s a little more common than I thought, not drastically so.    I’d have to think about it, but I’d still say that less than 10% of players who get into a major league game ever do this.

It has to be way less than that.  There have been something like 20,000 major leaguers.  I'd guess a few hundred have ever done this, as it's more common lately, and there are duplicates.

Stewart had his 6th home run in 6 games last night.    Most of them have been crushed down the RF line.

“I was able to clear my head (in Bowie) and I’m mentally in a better place, not trying to do too much and staying within myself and trusting the work that I’ve put in during the offseason and while I was down there in Bowie,” Stewart said. “It was kind of a reset for me, and just getting an opportunity now and going out there and trying to do the best I can.

“I’ve had times where I’ve been locked in. When I earned my promotion last year I was pretty locked in then, as well, but as far as the home runs, never really as many as it’s been, honestly. And that’s the work we were able to put in at Bowie, understanding my swing and also during the offseason not trying to do too much but letting my body generate the power as opposed to over-swinging.”

For some reason Adam Duvall, ATL,  is not shown.  In 8 games from 9/2 - 9/9/20 he hit 8 dingers (two 3 HR games on 9/2 and 9 and solos on 9/5 and 7!). Also, 5 in 5 games from 9/5 - 9.  @Frobby

Who is the hitting coach down at the alternate site? Did Davis spend any time there during his rehab?

Because it was not in consecutive games.  I couldn't figure out how to run a query unless it was a consecutive streak.  So if someone hit three homers today, none tomorrow, three next day, and two in each of the next two... wouldn't show up.

They also have the advantage of all (or nearly) being active players.  Dozens or hundreds of players have done this prior to '19 and I'm sure there's some really random players in there. 

Remember the Jeff Manto streak in '95, when he had five homers in three games for the Orioles?  Had 31 in his MLB career.

Sure.    I think Stewart’s career major league numbers are pretty indicative of who he is, except his power numbers are inflated.   The .243 BA and .347 OBP make sense and compare to .255/.358 in the minors

      Starting to digest some of the almost year end numbers, he's looking good for 3rd MLB-wide in HR. The .228 BABIP is lowest by a good deal among today's 131 qualified Bats on FG.    That isn't an accident - his 30.4 GB% is 2nd lowest to Mookie Betts.     Santander has been about as successful as any MLB hitter getting ground balls out of the equation.    Elevate and Celebrate! The difference between an 80 bat like Mookie and him is Mookie can do it without popping up a zillion times - Santander's infield fly ball rate near the top. At year end on the other end of that sort, Cowser is still leading MLB at that Votto-ish "never pops up" thing.

      Burnes can pitch on normal rest and lineup for Game 1. Thurs against NY and Tuesday for Game 1.  Eflin and others may need to be moved around. Kremer/Suarez combo for Game 3 (if necessary).  The Twins series likely won’t matter for us, unless the Yankees tank. This will allow some flexibility to skip guys to line them up for the following week.

      By WAR, Gil is about tied with Cowser at 2.4 fangraphs/3.6 bbref (cowser is basically the reverse of that.)  Wells is slightly ahead of both but he's slumping.  Pretty tight race to be honest. A good week from Cowser could seal it.   As it stands i probably give it to Gil just because starting pitchers are so hard to come by.  But Cowser could change my mind.

      Nobody is claiming that. However he did hit last night but he let 2 or 3 balls get past him and missed a throw from Jackson.  If a guy gets optioned after showing a sign of improvement at the plate, but struggles to field his position, what's the most likely overwhelming deciding factor then? The Orioles are an organization that believes in strong defensive play, which is why we carried a player like Urias or Mateo for so many seasons even when they were struggling to hit.

      If his year is over, B-Ref has it -0.7 WAR in 41 PA. That is turning up the heat some on 2023 Colton Cowser's -0.8 WAR in 77 PA. I'm hopeful '25 Mayo can be about as helpful as '24 Cowser.
