I’m glad DJ Stewart is having a moment

In our OF pecking order, DJ Stewart probably ranks pretty low.    I don’t know if he’ll have much of a major league career.    But after a lot struggles and, at times, ridicule, it’s nice to see him have his moment in the sun.    Four homers in three games — how many major leaguers ever do that in their career?     Not very many.   I’m really happy for the guy.

Since Stewart was a high draft pick, I really hope he pans out. I think the Orioles should have Trey Mancini play first base once he comes back. Stewart could rotate between DH and the outfield.

Its Opportunity.   With Santander out Stewart knows he is going to play so he is relaxing and producing.  He's letting his natural talent show through. Now we see the guy who had a 944 OPS at AAA playing along with Ryan Mountcastle.

If I learned that the guy next to me at the bar had done that once in the majors (or hit 3 homers in a series against the Yanks, or even just hit 2 homers in a game), the next round would be on me, just to hear the story.

Just another example of how you can send a guy down and it’s not the end of the world. We’ve seen it with Ruiz, Mullins, Sisco, etc....

His AB against Brach last night was fun (easy to say that when you're up by 9 runs).  Swung right through 2 fastballs and then made a motion as if to say "What the heck, how did I miss that?"  We saw Brach do that to a lot of guys during his time here.

Can Stewart play first base? When Hays comes back it would be nice to keep Stewart and Mullins in the regular lineup.

Stewart’s power and ability to draw a lot of walks gives him a high floor IMO. His problem was making contact. He’s seem to have fixed that. At least temporarily.

I think he’s fine in the OF and at DH. Not sure he has the build for first base.

Even if you put the qualifier at 10 PAs Stewart has the highest OPS in a full season with a BA under .200.  Of course that's full seasons, so many others had runs like this in partial seasons.  Just much harder to search for.
