A bad start got worse.  After a leadoff homer, Cobb gives up a base hit and a second home run.  May be a long game 1.

I was extremely discouraged after the Mets loss and I really felt like it was an emotional back breaker for the team. I was very worried that something exactly like this was going to happen. Especially with Cobb on the mound.

I watched a short documentary on YouTube last night.  Eddie Feigner "The King" and his barnstorming King and his Court fast-pitch softball team.  They said they clocked him throwing a 12-inch softball underhand at 104 mph.  That is nuts.  He was pitching for that team into his 60s and still throwing over 90.

You think the emotional state of the team has something to do with Cobb coming off the DL and serving up some fat pitches in his first inning?   He probably wasn't even at the game they blew on Wednesday, given that the reason he was on the DL was that he probably had to quarantine for a period.

We're going to have to chip away at Cole.   He does lead the majors in HRs allowed, so we aren't out of it.  Not yet, at least.  But we've only got 5 at bats left.

He allowed five runs in his first 17 pitches. I'd say that;s bringing nothing to the mound.

Oh yeah, this is a great spot for the new guy.   And we do have 6 games in 5 days starting today so we need Eshelman as a 6th starter by Wednesday.
