Mike Wright has a 1.80 ERA through 3 games with Seattle. But he's done that or better at least a few times over that small a sample while he was here.

Meanwhile, Armstrong has an 0.00 ERA since coming over. For now, the swap has worked out for both teams.

Yes, the ECU Pirates are hoping that translates into some bounty on the recruitment seas!  ?

The real Mike Wright showed up tonight.  3 earned runs in 1.1 innings pitched and ERA with the Mariners now at 8.24.

I cant not understand how any team could put him on their 25 man roster.

Granted it was in Colorado, but Parra was pretty good in 2017 and 2018.  He is fine as a back up.

Adam Jones with 8 hr and .840 ops on the year.

Also, Arizona is 22-19 and +13 in run differential.

Christian Walker of all people is filling in capably for Paul Goldschmidt, OPSing .931 (141 OPS+) at 1B.

Baseball can be a weird sport sometimes.

I think you mean Paul Goldschmidt.

And somehow has only been worth 0.2 WAR so far.  Part of it is he's cooled off since his hot start (not surprising), but the other is his D-WAR is -0.6.  I know D-War is a really shaky statistic, but that's pretty bad, especially since he was -2.3 last year.

Brad Brach has, for the most part, continued his nice rebound that he had with the Braves after departing last summer.  2.20 ERA in 16.1 IP and has already been worth 0.5 WAR, in spite of a really bad WHIP and K-BB walk rate.  To his credit the walks have gotten a little better since the beginning of the season, and despite all of that he hasn't given up a run since April 19.

The 39 year old Cruz is having MRI on his sore wrist.

What I find funny is, MLBTR says Cruz has a high slash line. didnt know .50 OPS was high.

Quote

Even as he approaches his 39th birthday on July 1, Cruz is still producing at a high level, with a .270/.354/.508 slash line and seven homers over his first 144 plate appearances as a Twin.

    • This is how.  Baseball America. Draft Prospects Ranked #364 prospect in 2023 draft   School: Liberty Source: 4YR Commit/Drafted: Never Drafted  Age At Draft: 21.2  Gibson made a strong early impression at Liberty by putting up a 3.32 ERA with 70 strikeouts and 21 walks in 65 innings as a freshman in 2021. His second season wasn’t as strong. With 72 strikeouts in 56 innings, his strikeout rate was actually up year over year, but otherwise, the numbers paint a grimmer picture. His ERA ballooned to 6.75, his hits allowed per nine innings went from 7.1 to 10.1 and his walks allowed per nine innings went from 2.9 to 4.8. Gibson didn’t pitch at all for Liberty in the 2023 season, but threw in the Cape Cod League during the summer. He struggled through his first four appearances, posting a 13.50 ERA in 10 innings, with 12 strikeouts and eight walks. Gibson pitched around 89 and got his fastball up to 92, but he struggled to land his secondaries, which include a downer curveball in the mid 70s, a low-80s slider and a mid-80s changeup. There’s arm talent here, but his inconsistencies, lack of playing time and history with arm injuries in 2022 could make him a complicated draft target.
    • I’m sure it’s not easy being asked some of the questions he gets. This is someone who started in the All Star Game last year. He knows he has had a down year.
    • Glenn, you’re a very good poster but apparently a bad Googler.  No problemo.  This was reported April 26. Injuries: MASN’s Steve Melewski reported that Bowie’s Zach Peek (right shoulder inflammation) and Aberdeen’s Reed Trimble (right hamstring discomfort) were both placed on the injured list yesterday.
    • This is an article targeted toward Pirates fans but profiles a Korean reliever recently let go by the Marlins. Groundball pitcher with an option. Numbers look Tate-ish. Best of all, he has an option. https://rumbunter.com/posts/pittsburgh-pirates-should-pursue-this-recently-dfa-reliever-woo-suk-go-01hz5msrvqq4
    • I agree. I think in general relievers will be the big items this July.
    • Perhaps Suarez will be the Orioles version of Ramiro Mendoza.
    • What about Crochet? White Sox are a bunch of players short of competing.
