Tracking Ex Oriole Thread

Flash and Charlie Culberson started out as pretty much equals when they were acquired by the Braves, but they went in opposite directions as Culberson established himself as one of the best utility players in the game.  Meanwhile, the Braves really need a bat or 2 off the bench moreso than another utility infielder.

24 year old Camargo just kept improving and took Flash's at bats away.

Camargo really proved himself last year and started this year with an injury.  His stats are pretty much in line with last year's.  He's a helluva player and could start at SS at some point.

What do you have against Flaherty? I can’t believe you are rooting against him...:)

I love how your trolling missing my key point. I said I would rather have him than Gentry bc Gentry can’t stay healthy.

I'm down with this for next year.  Two of @Rene88 's nuggets and could be acquired cheaply.  If Bundy comes back healthy and AJ accepts his QO, who knows?

Are we sure he didn't start talking to Chris Davis more as the season went on?

I don't have anything against Flaherty.

And how exactly did you come to the conclusion that I was rooting against him? I wasn't rooting against Mike Cuellar in his final season with the Orioles in 1976, but I can objectively state that he was far from the pitcher that he was in his prime between 1966 and 1974.

I (along with at least 4 other people who gave him a positive vote) was agreeing with the sentiment of Inside Coroner in regard to the posts made in April (and early May) about it being a mistake it was to let Flaherty go, and how he greatly regressed when he starting getting more plate appearances over the course of almost 5 months, as opposed to only the first 5 weeks of the season.

Isn’t this apples and oranges?   Gentry’s a plus defensive outfielder and speedy pinch runner.    Flaherty’s a solid defensive utility infielder who can play a non-embarrassing outfield in an emergency.    One doesn’t replace the other.    If we signed Flaherty, Jace Peterson would be the one to go.

    • Lots of panic around here right now. Guys forget the Rangers were third in their division and only had 88 wins last season.
    • This is my favorite Basallo clip so far. The swing is so fluid, it looks so effortless and the ball is just absolutely destroyed. It reminds me of homers by prime Chris Davis.
    • The Orioles were bound to hit a rut. Get your hand off the panic button.    The Orioles aren’t signing Bauer. So just Fudget about him. The don’t need to trade Holliday and Kjerstad. I’m okay if he finds a guy worth paying a top guy return along with a few others ala Kirby, Gilbert, Castillo etc.   Stop patting yourself on the back. We lost as did everyone else to a hot Rangers team. We are still 7 up in the top wildcard slot. And as Texas proved is all you have to do is get in to have a shot.
    • It’s becoming unglued?  Because of losing streak that almost every team goes through in any given season?  Really?
    • The Os pen isn’t good. With DC out, they just don’t have any arms you want to rely on. They don’t miss a lot of bats, don’t get a lot of Ks and the walk rate is higher than you want it to be. Kimbrel is fine but nothing special. He has been exactly what I thought he would be and maybe even a little better than that but hes not what we had last year, which was special. Cano is better than a dime a dozen guy but not by a ton.    Baker looks good and maybe he’s poised to have the year some of us thought he would have in 2023 but he has a ways to go to prove that.
    • Yes, I bolded that part to indicate that was to what I was referring.
    • This group hasn’t burned you though. This is the biggest test for Elias since the team got good. The bottom line is the Os need pitching help and they have too much talent in the minors and too many subpar guys in the majors eating up at bats. You built this farm system up and are so proud of it and now it’s time to use it to its full potential.    I understand the Holliday injury likely sets him back until after the AS break, at least but assuming he’s hitting (which he has been or he’s been walking a ton) and once he is able to start throwing pain free, he needs to be up here.  Mayo needs to be up here yesterday.  It’s just time.  Sitting on ML ready top 10 prospects when below average MLers are playing in front of them just doesn’t make sense. You have a glaring weakness of too many lefties and a manager/GM that just won’t play lefties vs lefties. You have McCann playing way too much. Mayo needs to be up here right now. And then you need to use the rest of the system(and maybe ML team), not Basallo, and go get the pitching you need.
