Initial Take:
Elias must be into Grow the bats, trade for the arms because here's another college outfielder. Rhodes is an interesting toolsey guy who hit well as a Freshman in the shortened 2020 season but hit for a low average (.251) as a young draft eligible sophomore. He has some leverage to go back to school and improve upon his numbers and try to get a bigger deal in 2022, but I imagine Elias knows his number to sign him. He doesn't turn 21 until August so he has more time to develop
That particular combination has been very common in corner outfielders, 1B, and DH. Some guys who hit 25 HRs for the Orioles and meet the passable avg/below avg defender include:
Larry Sheets
Don Baylor
Jay Gibbons
Mike Young
Nelson Cruz
Mark Trumbo
Trey Mancini
Bobby Bonilla
Luke Scott
Armas did not walk often (4.7% career walk rate) and Kjerstad should be a guy who walks significantly more as he demonstrates MLB power (I think he could be 8-11%).
I'd hate to see that. He's been a purveyor of ineptitude and disappointing finishes since he's taken that job, it'd be a shame to see them make a move.
