They could swing another trade like the one for Britton.  Where they take a team desperate for any sort of talent and throw a bunch of guys they'd DFA anyway at them.

I wouldn't mind being that team! Gotta figure there's no way they let Pereria walk in the Rule V.

#Orioles add LHP DL Hall, LHP Kevin Smith, RHP Kyle Bradish, INF Terrin Vavra, RHP Felix Bautista and RHP Logan Gillaspie to 40-man roster. They now have 39 players on it.

Interesting pick there. ERA doesn't jump out at you but look at those peripherals, 11.9 K/9, 2.6 BB/9. I can see why they might not take the risk of him getting picked. Of course I could say the same about Vespi. Will be interesting to see it play out. Great opportunity for these guys.

I am trying to dig it up, but about a week ago someone posted an excerpt from a chat with one of the prospect gurus (Kiley McDaniel?  Eric Longenhagen?) where he had singled out Gillaspie as having very impressive stuff in an AFL outing.   So maybe it’s more about stuff and ceiling than about stats.   But I’m still pretty shocked to see him protected.   I’ll keep looking for the quote.

I can see Neustrom, Vespi, Sedlock, and Peralta all possibly taken. 

If you are going to hold onto Gillaspie due to his “stuff” how do you not protect Peralta?
