So, what are we going to talk about now?

Is there a good vinyl shop in Baltimore?

You looking for vinyl?  weams accumulated quite the stash in support of an amazon seller side business.   I haven't started it back up yet to clear the inventory, but let me know if there's something in particular you're looking for and I'll see if it's there.

No bootlegs that I know of, though.

Yeah, even though I do have opinions on what I would like in the new CBA, and opinions on the two sides and who is more right and who is more wrong, I really have no desire to spend lots of time on a message board discussing them.   It's just too depressing.  I'll probably visit here less and spend more time on the VT board, we just hired a new football coach and have a really fun basketball team that will probably be in the NCAA Tournament again this year.

Our loss.

That's awesome. Yes, I partake in vinyl collecting but not seeking anything specific at the moment. Check out the website Discogs when you are ready, that is where most collectors go and they will pay good prices with minimal fees.

I think we should put together a virtual offseason. 30 of us posters are randomly assigned a major league franchise. We use a Google Drive doc (like the handy one Tony posted a link to on the Minor League board), and use that as our master franchise rosters. We make whatever trades we'd like. Then we simulate the 2022 season using a fantasy baseball engine to track real world stats, or a gaming platform to simulate the season (I'm not up on which would be best). The winner is the GM whose team shows the biggest improvement in team wins over 2021. And since players can be traded from any level of the organizations, we run the same simulation five years from now strictly pulling from players in our virtual organizations.

Yep, and yesterday there was a piece of "journalism" on MLB.com explaining the issues involved in the labor dispute that was basically 100% MLB propaganda

What's with some of you all and being even mildly surprised about the leanings of an MLB.com or MASN? If this were the Baltimore Sun, or Tony here at the OH, or a local news station, then the charge would make sense. I just don't see the purpose of being disappointed by the bias of an internally-owned outlet.

He made it sound like the MLBPA had no interest in negotiating and meeting halfway.  I can't imagine the MLB owners, who he stumps for, are coming to the table in an agreeable way.

This is where it has come to that enough of us actually agree with this sentiment. I couldn't stand Selig, but he would be a tad better then Manfred. Plus we could make fun of his bad toupee.

I thought Selig was fine.  People just attacked him all the time because he was...well, folksy.  Goofy.  But over his time as MLB commissioner, there hadn't been a work stoppage since the 1994 strike.  Baseball prospered.  We can banter back and forth about how he turned a blind eye to PEDs, but after the work stoppage in '94 what would any of us have done?  The game got back on track, homers surged, there was a lot of interest.  I can't fault him for that.

People thought he was an idiot because he was folksy and goofy, I don't believe he was.  So what if he flubbed an All-Star game and it ended in a tie?

I don't think anyone was surprised.  That doesn't mean we can't comment on how terrible it was.
