Any doctors on this board? Could inflammation mask the presence of a tear?

I’ve torn it in both knees. I can promise you that you can feel it catch. My surgeons confirmed my symptoms during a consultation. I recall them both saying we will clean up what we find during the procedure.

No offense to Mr Straily, but he certainly knew if it was torn and I’m quite certain that the Orioles didn’t force him to pitch injured.

I feel like if this happened under Dan Duquette's watch instead of Elias' people's reaction would be different

How so?    Most people haven’t reacted at all, and rightfully so at this point.  Not enough of information to really have much of a reaction.

Just kind of more anger/suspicion under the old regime and more of meh whatever under the new regime. Or I am just looking too much into it and this is just nothing at all.

Well, if this was news that was current and involved an important player I think people would care.   But we’re talking about Dan Straily, who played here for a couple of months in 2019 and we were paying him the major league minimum.   Hard to get very worked up now, especially since it’s not clear who was at fault.

I did note that the O’s changed some of their medical staff this offseason.

This is hilarious.  For years people have been complaining that the Orioles went overboard with their conservatism regarding medicals.  Remember the whole Balfour BS?  Now, the Orioles are supposedly not conservative enough?   Come on.  It's absurd to believe that the Orioles would knowingly force a guy like Straily to pitch with a serious Injury.

This is the season for even more outrageous comments than normally.  I guess it gives some people something to talk about.  Yes I  remember those physicals, and I said at  the time,  better to be safe than sorry.   I agree with your assessment of the situation back then.
