I really do get sick of having this argument every year, regardless of which side anyone is on.  I’ll be glad when all the steroid era guys are past their eligibility period so we can go back to just arguing the merits of the player.  (Though I’m sure even now players are cheating the system somehow.)
 

I love discussing the HOF and hate that all this bs takes up so much of the conversation.

King Kelly was elected when baseball writers were men! This is the media darling era where you have to have a relationship with the media to get a date into the HOF.

Ortiz was a DH. His only contributions to his teams was hitting. He had a career 56.7 OWAR. Bobby Grich had a career 62.6 OWAR. There is no way this guy is a first ballot HOFer. I dont care what the circumstances were that allowed him to go in on the first ballot.
