I think in the earliest measured runs of year he'd been a lot down, but that was a nice 1st to home where him not having slowed down too much from his youngest self helped.

Well, he’d just been referring to the fact that his biggest hit of the year was on a Sunday a couple of weeks ago.  So the comment made sense in context.
