Ofelky Peralta and David Lebron released

Peralta was a staple of top 30 prospects lists for years. Peralta or Keith Reed hold the title.

If memory serves me correctly, David Lebron was the first player acquired via trade in the Mike Elias era. In exchange for international bonus slot money I believe. It was seen as a puzzling move considering the new regime was making an outspoken effort to get involved internationally. 

Perhaps the money was next to useless with no infrastructure in place, IDK.

Wow - I was hoping Peralta would at least get a cup of coffee with as long as he's been here but his numbers are pretty awful this year..  Hope they both can catch on somewhere.

Peralta just never had the results to match the reported mid to high 90's velocity.   Lebron had great strikeout numbers but it's interesting that he hasn't pithed since once or twice early in the season and was old for AA last year.   Josue Cruz showed a lot of power in the DSL but always had high K numbers.  He struck out 48% of the time this year at Delmarva and was very shaky defensively at 1B with 7 errors.   I guess either Higgins or Moises Ramirez, who've both been disappointing in their own right will get the majority of 1B starts now at Delmarva.

Lebron only pitched 1/3 of an inning at Norfolk and got bombed but I suspect he's damaged goods.   He did strike out 91 in 61 innings last year.   At 28, he wasn't a prospect but maybe a guy who had an outside shot at getting a cup of coffee in the bigs someday.

Unfortunately Peralta seemed to regress back his crazy wild days again after working so hard to keep that under control. Kinda started to like him a bit last year and though the might be ok in a bullpen role, but he's been a disaster this year.

I never was a Lebron guy. Very hittable fastball and nothing to get major league batters out consistently. 

Cruz was a gangly, shockingly unathletic looking first baseman who had no business making it out of the FCL. His best quality seemed to be that he looked like a good teammate who was positive on the field. He had a decent raw power tool but couldn't transition that to game power against higher level pitching.
