Teixeira watch part IX....The final stages?

NO!

Nothing is going down. That's what those comments meant. If something were that close, MacPhail wouldn't be taking the time to talk to Roch.

Something might go down tomorrow, but again, its only going to be an announcement of a deal if he signs anywhere, not the whole press conference and dog and pony show. That'll be a couple days later. Everything that needs to be done can be done over the phone and fax, no need to for wild rumors about people flying places and meeting face to face.

If Tex is agreeing to terms tonight for an announcement tomorrow, it could mean he is in town to sign the final contract documents and get a physical tomorrow...

Well at some point, someone is going to have to do something.

If you are afraid Boston will up their offer, why would you ever do it and why would Tex get signed?

They can play this games for months.

At some point Boras will realize that nobody is giving in to his game and he will close the thing out. Or someone, most likely the Gnats will blink, and make an offer. Then Boras will make the rounds again. If the Gnats offer is in the 10/200 neighborhood, the Sox will say thanks, but no thanks, and AM will bid something lower than the Gnats and say, "so Tex, are you really a home town guy?" He'll do the same thing if the the Sox' bid is the highest.

Right, make an offer and grossly overpay, or give the Red Sox enough incentive to up theirs and keep this going endlessly. If Tex comes back to us when they feel they have gotten their final offer, then he is giving us the hometown discount. If he doesn't, then he didn't want to play for us, and was just using us to get top dollar. AM is playing this the right way IMO.

I'd have to agree with this. Provided that this isn't holding up any other moves we need to make, I have no problem if the end result is Tex in an Oriole uniform. If he's not it will probably not be because of money.

The only thing that would concern me is that by letting time go by, you may open up the bidding to other clubs. But, knowing Boras, those stones have already been turned over anyway.

When this plays out and IF Tex is not an Oriole, then I'm guessing we'll see some activity. I think having Krivsky here also keeps us engaged in other things as well, since he's been around the block a time or two.

In playoffs, did Teixeira have zero extra base hits and 1 RBI?

http://www.baseball-reference.com/j/jeterde01.shtml

Derek Jeter's career averages in the playoffs are about the same as his regular season stats. However, most of that is his performance in the divisional series'.

In the LCS and World Series, he is well under his career averages.

And if you look at specific series, you see quite a few .400/.400/.600-type series, but also quite a few .200/.250/.250-type series.

He is a "winner" because he has always had immense amounts of talent surrounding him. That doesn't mean he isn't a great player (at least offensively), but judging his numbers as those of a winner and Teixeira's as empty stats because of TEAM performance is illogical and Morganian in it's stupidity.

"Agreeing to terms" doesn't mean sign anything. You don't have to "be in town" to sign a final contract. Tex likely won't be taking a physical as a contingency of a deal.

What does that accomplish? As long as the Orioles aren't in danger of being eliminated let other teams panic / move on before succumbing to the pressure.

There is absolutely no way they are going to sign Tex with the contract they have versus what Boston is offering....All I am saying is put yourself on a level playing field with Boston...Then, from there you can what Boston will do if they are getting the idea that Tex will sign here.

Offering what everyone else is offering has nothing to do with succumbing to pressure. It is just leveling the playing field.

Unless he is still in Texas and had the families come down to celebrate Christmas?

Just floating something out there...

If Boras was really intent on putting Tex in a Boston jersey, wouldn't it make more sense to try to get Manny to the Yankees first? That way, Tex becomes the retaliatory strike.

It's far fetched, but what the hell else do we have to talk about besides rampant speculation at this point?

Let's not foget that tomorrow is December 23rd. Why is it so hard to believe that Mark is home for the holidays?

Isn't that sort of what is going on with this Importo Deportivo report that Manny and the Yanks have talked out a 3/75? Could that be SB working behind the scenes to get a deal done with the Yanks for Manny to push Boston to up their bid and come back to the table?

What moves do you think AM needs to make to get this wrapped up before Christmas?

If the Manny rumor is true, about the 3/75, did Boras do some manuevering to drive up the price on Tex and get Boston to pony up?

That's the way I see it. IMO the Birds are out of the running. I think Angelos offer was written in stone. It's either Nats or Sox.
